SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 21, 2011) - CloudFlare, the web performance and security company, is proud to announce the deployment of seven new data centers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. This brings the company's footprint to 12 global data centers at the Internet's strategic exchange points. The expansion enables CloudFlare to optimize website content better, identify security threats sooner, and support thousands of times the network's previous capacity.
"We have grown from a trickle of traffic during our private beta a year ago to more than five billion page views per month today," said Matthew Prince, CEO and Co-Founder of CloudFlare. "We've been able to scale so quickly because we've designed our own specifically tuned hardware and networks from the ground up. For those who like buzzwords, we've essentially built our own 'special-purpose public cloud' that doubles the speed of the average website and stops network threats before they even get to a client's data center."
CloudFlare builds all its hardware from the ground up and components are selected down to the motherboards, chips, and SSD drives. Proprietary software is used to efficiently process millions of requests per second. CloudFlare's data centers were chosen to be at the most strategic points on the Internet, meaning a node is now within a few hops of 99% of Internet visitors. CloudFlare's global network ensures visitors get the fastest page load times and best performance. Since CloudFlare's public launch in September 2010, more than 15 percent of the Internet's visitors have passed through the company's network.
The new data center locations include: Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, Paris, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Singapore. Previous data centers which have been updated with new hardware include: San Jose, Chicago, Ashburn, Amsterdam, and Tokyo.
"We will continue to expand our global presence based on where we see traffic growth to the websites on our network," said Matthew Prince. "Our ultimate goal is nothing short of powering Internet-scale traffic in order to bring better performance and security to every website."
