NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 24, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitochon Systems, provider of the first, free, fully certified EHR, today announced a "no strings" 30-day free trial for physicians of its mEMR system with an advanced eRx module connected to a national pharmacy network included at no charge.
"Mitochon's e-prescribing partner is H2H Digital Rx, a leading e-prescription provider which is Surescripts™ integrated, allowing connection to pharmacies nationwide. In addition, our e-Rx solution includes a two- way interface that allows physicians to see all medications the patient is on, even those he did not prescribe. It automatically updates the chart, and has reporting capability including drug/drug, drug interaction, drug/allergy and patient education information," said Chris Riley, chief executive officer of Mitochon Solutions.
Riley said that while the Mitochon EHR has always been free, the company normally charges a one-time $75 registration fee and $25 per month service fee for the advanced eRx module. However, it will waive those fees during a 30-day trial period for all physicians who sign up for the free, fully certified EHR before July 31.
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) estimates that some 100,000 physicians could face penalties for not complying with new, e-prescribing requirements that take effect June 30. Clinicians who do not report at least at least 10 electronic prescriptions on Medicare claims during the first six months of 2011 will experience a 1% pay cut in 2012 that grows to 1.5% in 2013 and 2% in 2014 with continued noncompliance. These fees apply to all of Part B-covered professional services under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS).
Mitochon's offer includes its mEMR system, the first, free fully certified (ONC-ATSB) EHR. With the Mitochon system, physicians can qualify for up to $44,000 in EHR meaningful use incentives without buying software.
Mitochon uses a free, ad-supported model. Ads are displayed within the workflow of the application. The Mitochon mEMR system, designed by physicians for physicians, is intuitive and easy-to-use. Most customers are up and running in one day.
