According to Alpha Card Services, a mobile placement reader is required which enables credit card swiping, as well as a downloadable smartphone app dubbed QwickPAY. The company also reports that current Alpha Card merchants can request a no-charge mobile placement reader as part of their processing agreement.
According to Alpha Card Services, the principal benefits to the merchant are the security and mobility of the QwickPAY system. QwickPAY surpasses current PCI DSS standards by combining multi-layered MagneSafe™ security, in addition to encrypting card data from the point-of-swipe. The QwickPAY service enables merchants to use their existing mobile devices to make secure, card present transactions anytime and anywhere, without the concerns of storing sensitive card data. Additionally, the merchant will not need to utilize a receipt printer as the QwickPAY application captures the signature on the device screen and emails the receipt directly to the customer. The company also cited recent research that retailers are starting to migrate towards paperless, digital receipts in an effort to reduce paper and printer ink costs, as well capture consumer emails for future promotions and coupon offers.
