Telguard Introduces Two-Way Voice Over Cellular Solution for New and Legacy Systems

Innovation Enables Listen-in, Voice Verification, and PERS Cellular Communication

CHICAGO, Aug. 16, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telular Corporation (Nasdaq:WRLS), a leader in alarm and event monitoring solutions and services, today announces the availability of two-way voice over cellular using Telguard's flagship TG-1 Express product. The TG-1 Express cellular alarm communicator is compatible with virtually all new and existing security alarm panels, making this new feature easily applicable to new and legacy systems.

As more local regulations are enacted to reduce false alarms, voice verification is quickly becoming a necessity for residential alarm dealers. Until recently, installing two-way voice or listen-in hardware required a landline—something that exists in an ever decreasing number of homes. The Telguard TG-1 Express, in conjunction with the panel manufacturer's voice hardware, provides dealers the ability to easily and cost-effectively support voice verification without needing a landline.

"Delivering on our commitment to provide dealers with RMR-boosting products and functionalities, Telguard is excited to introduce a cellular two-way voice solution as part of our extensive, feature-rich product line," says Shawn Welsh, vice president of marketing and business development for Telular Corporation. "Through our cellular two-way voice functionality, we are helping security and PERS dealers protect and grow their RMR and their customer base."

Along with the Telguard Interactive remote alarm control app, the new two-way voice feature makes the TG-1 Express the ideal product for dealers looking to increase their RMR from every installation. Unlike other two-way voice over GSM offerings, Telguard's patent pending approach does not require central station operators to purchase and maintain proprietary equipment. As long as a dealer's central station supports two-way voice, the TG-1 Express can be installed to deliver it. More importantly, this feature can also enable two-way voice from existing Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) equipment when a landline isn't available.

"Cellular advancements are rapidly driving how the security industry helps people secure their homes, businesses, and property," said Joseph Beatty, president and chief executive officer of Telular Corporation. "We remain committed to introducing more technology innovations designed to ensure that dealers have cutting-edge cellular products for consumers who are quickly eliminating their landlines."
