Spillman makes Inc. magazine's top 5,000 list for the fifth consecutive year

Spillman among just 10 percent of Inc. 5000 companies to make the list for five years or more

Salt Lake City, Utah, Aug. 24, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Inc. magazine this week ranked Salt Lake City-based Spillman Technologies as one of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the nation, marking the fifth consecutive year that the company has been included in the exclusive list.

Spillman is among 514 companies, 10.2 percent of those on the Inc. 5000 list, to have received the honor for five years or more.

"We have weathered the economic storm very well, and we are optimistic about our continued growth in the future," said Spillman President and CEO Lance Clark.

Spillman was one of 305 software companies and 84 companies in Utah to make the list of 5,000. The company has experienced a 52 percent increase in revenue in the last five years and has added 57 new customers since the beginning of 2011.

Spillman Technologies provides a full range of integrated software solutions for public safety agencies, including Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management Systems, Mobile Data & Field Reporting, Mapping & GIS, Crime Analysis & CompStat, Jail Management Systems, Fire, Data Sharing, and Personnel & Resources. The software is used by more than 950 agencies nationwide.

According to Inc., the list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the nation represents a comprehensive look at the health of America’s independent entrepreneurs. Even in a stagnant economic environment, the companies on this year’s list have created more than 350,000 jobs in the last three years and have an aggregate revenue of $366 billion, an increase of 14 percent from last year.

Methodology

The 2011 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2007 to 2010. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2007. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent--not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies--as of December 31, 2010. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2007 is $100,000; the minimum for 2010 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 5000 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at www.inc.com/500.
