FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwire - Sep 7, 2011) - Naxos of America announces the beginning of distribution of three labels in September 2011: BBC Legends, Lipkind Productions and NMC Recordings.
Established with the aim of recording the best of contemporary British music to the highest artistic and technical standards, NMC Recordings (http://www.nmcrec.co.uk/) was founded in 1988 with funding from the Holst Foundation and assistance from the Society for the Promotion of New Music. NMC's catalog currently consists of around 160 titles, released to widespread critical acclaim: this includes Gramophone Awards for Robin Holloway's Second Concerto for Orchestra (1994), the world premiere recording of The Mask of Orpheus by Sir Harrison Birtwistle (1998), Jonathan Harvey's Body Mandala (2008), and most recently, The NMC Songbook (2009). Composers represented on the label range from established voices -- James Dillon, Alexander Goehr, Howard Skempton, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Judith Weir, to a younger generation including Joe Cutler, Sadie Harrison and Donnacha Dennehy.
The deep urge to produce unique recordings prompted Gavriel Lipkind to create his own label and therefore his own recording niche. As Lipkind Productions (http://www.lipkind.info/) develops its catalog of recordings, it also offers highly exclusive special editions with high resolution sound content and sheet music publications. All aspects of each stage of every project are executed by a staff of creative directors who take an active interest in the connected work of their colleagues. As a result the programmatic study, the derived interpretation approach, performance, editing, mastering, design, and promotion all happen as a homogenous process. "Ideas, by their very nature, cannot be communicated without losing some of their original quality. A recording production is a unique opportunity for a performer to document ideas in their purest and most total and timeless form," said Lipkind.
The award winning BBC Legends (http://www.mediciarts.co.uk/fe_display_products_categories.php?category=BBC%20Legend) label is sourced from the BBC's own archive from 1938 to the early 1990s. The special interest label is focused on historical recordings of great conductors and outstanding soloists. Aimed at music aficionados and collectors, the label is produced internationally by EuroArts Music International.
Headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, Naxos of America (http://www.facebook.com/NaxosUSA) is the #1 independent classical music distributor in the U.S.
