PLYMOUTH, MN--(Marketwire - Sep 8, 2011) - During the entire month of August, TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union asked the community, credit union members, employees, and business partners to donate school supplies at any of the eight TruStone branch locations for its third annual School Express Supply Drive.
The credit union is ecstatic to report it collected more than $7,600 in monetary donations together with thousands of school supplies. TruStone partnered with The Kids In Need Foundation (KINF), a national charitable organization, to distribute supplies to classrooms and schools in need.
With each dollar raised, KINF is able to procure $31 in supplies through relationship discounts. This equates to a TruStone donation worth over $236,000.
With this money, KINF could buy more than 472,000 glue sticks and stack them end to end, reaching the height of the Statue of Liberty 841 times over or 120 Eiffel Towers! Other donations included 1,053 notebooks, 553 boxes of crayons, 191 rulers, protractors and compasses, 125 packs of colored pencils, 174 packages of erasers, hundreds of packages of pens, pencils, markers and highlighters, Kleenex, paper clips, flash drives, staplers, scissors, calculators, and more.
"We were overwhelmed by the generosity and support we received during the School Express Supply Drive," said Tim Bosiacki, CEO of TruStone Financial. "Each dollar raised and each supply donated went to our local schools in need."
