ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2011) - South River Technologies, Inc. (SRT), an innovator in managed file transfer and file collaboration software, announced today that longtime customer, the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), will implement SRT's GroupDrive Collaboration Suite in the cloud. CCHIT, founded in 2004 to certify electronic health record (EHR) systems, has been successfully using GroupDrive for many years.
CCHIT is an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the public mission of accelerating the adoption of robust, interoperable health information technology. The Commission has been certifying electronic health record technology since 2006 and is approved by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB).
CCHIT uses GroupDrive to facilitate file sharing among internal staff, customers, and contractors, and has chosen to leverage the cost benefits of cloud computing by migrating this mission-critical application to Amazon's EC2 environment. The productivity gains realized by using GroupDrive will be further augmented by having the product running in the cloud.
"GroupDrive has helped us to collaborate more effectively with our customers and contractors," says Earl Evans, Technology Engineer at CCHIT. "We are able to seamlessly store, move and share important files internally and with outside parties as needed, while maintaining strong security and good performance. GroupDrive hosted on Amazon EC2 permits us to enjoy those same capabilities, but with significantly decreased cost."
GroupDrive is a client-server product suite that enables users to collaborate on files from within the applications that they are already using, which reduces training costs and enables users to quickly realize the product's benefits.
"GroupDrive as a scalable collaborative solution is an excellent fit for the cloud," says Michael Ryan, CEO of South River Technologies. "Its minimal footprint, combined with the ability to instantly scale, allows organizations such as CCHIT the ability to control costs while being able to expand as needed. We are excited to be able to help CCHIT migrate to a promising cloud-based model."
