Lower East Side Institution, MOSCOT, Is Opening Across the East River

Famed Eyewear Brand Announces New Shop in Brooklyn

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Oct 12, 2011) - MOSCOT, the New York City eyewear institution renowned worldwide for its iconic eyewear, today announced it has signed a lease for a new shop in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.

The new shop, the company's third, will be located at 159 Court Street, and is slated to open by the end of this year. The Company also has shops at 118 Orchard Street, where it has been since 1936, and 69 W 14th Street, its flagship location.

Although MOSCOT has been a fixture in downtown Manhattan since 1899 when Great Grandpa Hyman first began selling readymade eyeglasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street, the third generation Moscots were born and raised in Brooklyn. MOSCOT is coming full circle.

"We love Brooklyn and could not be more excited to be going home again," said Harvey Moscot.
