SANTA FE, N.M., Nov. 9, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lori Faye Bock has been a mainstay on historic Canyon Road in Santa Fe where her original paintings have been represented since 1997. This year, during the holiday seasons of Christmas and Hanukkah, the popular Abiquiú artist is offering special gift ideas for animal lovers through her online store LoriFayeBockShop.com during the month of November 2011 by typing the word PETS as the coupon code at checkout.
The specials, which are reproductions of her original paintings, include 50% off all art note card gift portfolios, each consisting of ten cards and envelopes featuring cats, dogs, cats & dogs, women's perspectives, mixed farm, sheep and birds and available with festive green, red or gold bands. Bock's extensive line of art note cards are all printed in Albuquerque, New Mexico on environmentally sensible recycled card stock using soy based ink with a local company certified with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Her envelopes are manufactured in Albuquerque as well. She states, "I am very proud to say that on the back of all of my art note cards, the phrase 'Printed in the United States of America on recycled paper' appears. I grew up in this country, educated here, live here, sell my paintings here and blessed I can do commerce with local businesses."
In addition, during the online store holiday specials, there is 20% off all hand embellished museum quality limited edition prints, reproductions of Bock's original paintings. Printed by an independent Santa Fe business on archival Hahnemuhle paper using permanent dye inks with a life expectancy of at least 100 years, the prints are shipped flat, mounted on backing board, shrink wrapped and insured.
Lori Faye Bock was born in Detroit, Michigan and achieved her B.S. in Elementary Education at Western Michigan University after attending the Center for Creative Studies College of Art & Design and Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. Later on, she taught first grade at an inner city school in Los Angeles, then, Bock migrated to Northern New Mexico in 1989 where she and her husband settled and renovated an early 18th century earthen adobe farmhouse along the Chama River. Working out of their home, the Bock's are surrounded by a bevy of cats, dogs and sheep, including the biblical spotted Jacob sheep.
Reproductions of her earlier paintings can be found on the walls of animal shelters, humane societies, rescue groups, veterinarian offices and the homes of individuals throughout the USA. The American Humane Association of Englewood, Colorado prevailed upon Bock to create paintings to help raise the awareness of pet guardians to microchip, tattoo and use traditional tagging for companion pets to increase the odds of lost animals being returned to their original homes. The program which took place on the first Saturday in April from 2000 until 2006 was then known as Tag Day. In addition, Bock created paintings for the A.S.P.C.A. Adopt a Rescued Rabbit campaign as well as two images for PetSmart Charities.
Lori Faye Bock is represented by Waxlander Gallery in Santa Fe and Wilde Meyer Gallery in Scottsdale & Tucson. Individual art note cards are distributed throughout independently owned businesses in New Mexico as well as locations out of state. In 2012, plans include an expanded nationwide distribution.
