IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 15, 2011) -
WHAT:
Orange County Business Council will honor Orange County's public sector jobs creators at the inaugural "Turning Red Tape Into Red Carpet Awards and Reception," sponsored by JP Morgan Chase, Thursday, November 17 at Mastro's Steakhouse in Costa Mesa from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. OCBC launched the competition earlier this year to highlight local government programs and policies that eliminate regulatory barriers to economic growth, spur economic development, and create jobs in a tough economy.
In addition to recognizing the 35 nominees for their positive contributions to Orange County's economic development, OCBC will present awards in the following categories: Business Retention and Expansion, Responding to Globalization, Sustainable and Green Development, Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse, Public-Private Partnerships, and Leadership in the Public Service.
The award winners will be announced prior to the evening reception during a call-in press briefing at 9:30 a.m. on November 17. Media interested in participating in the press briefing should contact Katherine Reedy, Director of Communications, at 949.794.7221 or kreedy@ocbc.org.
The award winners were selected by the "Turning Red Tape Into Red Carpet" committee, chaired by Dan Miller, OCBC Board Member and Senior Vice President of Entitlement and Public Affairs at The Irvine Company. The nominated organizations include Orange County cities, county departments and special districts. Each have successfully taken on the challenge of laying out the "red carpet" to business and private jobs creation through innovative projects, cutting regulations, reducing fees and streamlining processes.
