Corel® today announced a new update for CorelCAD™, the powerful and affordable CAD solution introduced earlier this year. Available today as a free download for current CorelCAD customers, the update adds significant functionality and enhancements that will benefit a wide range of users in the architecture, engineering and manufacturing design communities. The first update to CorelCAD delivers enhancements to 3D modeling with the introduction of new 3D editing tools, 3D input device support and 3D display improvements. New 2D drafting tools allow for greater control for creating precise CAD drawings and modifying objects on screen. Paired with overall performance improvements and new full support for Mac OS® X Lion, this update helps designers work with even greater speed, flexibility and efficiency.

The first significant update to CorelCAD delivers new functionality, enhancements and improvements focused on helping users to be as productive as possible.

In response to feedback from customers, the latest CorelCAD update features the following improvements:

• New 3D editing tools and enhanced 3D modeling capabilities that includes the fillet tools for 3D edges and advanced editing of 3D surfaces for delivering advanced 3D designs efficiently
• New Smart Dimension tool for creating CAD drawings with precision and ease that automatically detect and suggest best matching dimension tools including Lines, Poly Line segments, Arcs, Circles, and Rings
• New print configurations that can store advanced print settings for different layouts and set configurations as presets across multiple projects
• New support for 3D Connexion input devices for Windows for quick 3D navigation on screen
• New VoiceNotes and Spellchecker for the Mac - the unique CorelCAD annotation feature
• New full Mac OS X Lion support
• Improved memory and performance for 3D display with increased rendering speed
• Improved performance to start up time on Mac OS X

In addition, CorelCAD provides excellent compatibility, working natively with the AutoCAD® DWG™ file format and eliminating the need for an import / export process to read and write files in the industry standard format.

Availability

The free update is available for download from Corel's website www.corel.com/updates. CorelCAD is available at the SRP of $699 (US and CDN). Registered users of CorelDRAW® Graphics Suite X4 and Corel DESIGNER® Technical Suite X4 or higher are eligible for cross-grade pricing of $499 (US and CDN). Commercial and academic volume licenses are also available.
