EXFO Launches the First Multirate Field Testing Solution Up to 100G

Housed in the Portable FTB-500 Platform, This All-in-One Testing Solution Provides Powerful Multirate and Service Coverage Up to 100G -- All at the Tip of a Finger

QUEBEC CITY, Canada, Nov. 29, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EXFO Inc. (Nasdaq:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) announced today that it is setting unprecedented simplicity in the configuration and testing of 100G/40G high-speed networks while addressing the explosive growth of lower rate packet-based data. The combined solution of the FTB-85100G Packet Blazer 100G/40G Ethernet and OTN Test Module and the FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer Next-Generation Multiservice Test Module housed in EXFO's portable FTB-500 Platform enables network operators to rapidly scale their networks while reducing time-to-service. With EXFO's new solution they can count on the tools they need for simultaneous testing of different services to ensure turn-up efficiency.

For full Ethernet testing coverage, EXFO is pleased to provide its customers with the tools needed to meet the demands for stable and resilient Ethernet services and network performance up to 100G. More specifically, these tools include RFC 2544, Smart Loopback capability adjustable to all unique layer 2 through layer 4 loopback configurations, quality-of-service (QoS) metrics and traffic shaping with VLAN support. EXFO's solutions ensure that all newly deployed 100G/40G networks are proven capable of handling demanding services that will be placed on them in the future.

In addition, EXFO is bringing single and multistage OTU4/OTU3 multiplexing to its FTB/IQS-85100G Packet Blazer modules to address the critical requirements of systems manufacturers and network operators. This will assist them as they leverage optical transport networks (OTN) as a common container for multiplexing a mix of services down to ODU0 (1.25G) granularity into 100G/40G wavelengths for efficient bandwidth management. This new capability enables breakthrough-level qualification of high-speed OTN.

The newly added capabilities are available through a software option for existing FTB/IQS-85100G Packet Blazer modules, requiring no additional hardware and maximizing customers' return on investment (ROI).

"In today's competitive market, carriers and network operators strive to deliver the required bandwidth while reducing costs and improving efficiency, and EXFO is proud to empower its customers with the only 10M-to-100G multirate and multiservice portable field testing solution to take their converged networks field-testing efficiency to the next level," said Etienne Gagnon, Vice-President—Wireline Division and Corporate Marketing. "Thanks to EXFO's ToolBox and its powerful set of tools, including Update Manager, Remote Management and Reporting, seamless transition between different interfaces and testing applications is now at the tip of your fingers."
