1-Source Electronic Components Receives Grant From DOL

HAUPPAUGE, NY--(Marketwire - Dec 20, 2011) - Electronic components distributor 1-Source Electronic Components was awarded a $46,410 grant on December 15 from the New York State Department of Labor. The purpose of the money is to train 20 current employees, to help improve its quality management, prepare for internal audits, and become industry certified. This is part of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's $785 million Regional Economic Development Council Initiative. The purpose of the program is to drive economic growth and create jobs. 1-Source is an international distributor of board level electronic components, such as transistors, capacitors, and connectors. The company employs about 30 people at their world headquarters in Hauppauge, New York.

Although 1-Source also maintains offices in Central America and China, its largest office and the main focus of its hiring and training is at 517 Route 111, Hauppauge, New York. The training that 1-Source employees receive through this program will increase their knowledge and their value to their customers as well as to 1-Source. This, in turn, will benefit the local community by enabling 1-Source to expand and create jobs in electronic components sales.

In expressing gratitude for the grant, 1-Source President Richard Lodato commented, "We are always looking for ways to develop our customer service. This grant gives us the opportunity to add ISO9001 certification and work towards AS9120 in the coming year. It lets our customers know they will receive the highest quality products and enhanced customer service." The International Organization for Standardization 9001 certification is an assurance that a company meets stringent standards for product quality and customer service. AS9120 is a similar certification from the International Standards Authority for Aerospace product distributors.
