HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 21, 2011) - As busy homeowners prepare for the arrival of their holiday guests, the last place many think to clean is around their dishwasher, even though many dishwashers pull the air from around the unit to dry the dishes. A new national survey fielded by Impulse Research on behalf of Bosch home appliances found that three out of five Americans have never looked behind their dishwashers, even though 84 percent believe that using their dishwasher is more sanitary than hand washing.
Of those who were curious enough to look behind their dishwashers, respondents found everything from dust, hair, old food particles, bugs and rat or other animal droppings.
"It was surprising that a majority of Americans have never looked around their dishwasher, despite the fact that air used to dry the dishes has to pass through this area. If they did, they might not hold their belief that dishwashing is more sanitary than hand washing," said Micaela Shaw, brand manager for Bosch home appliances. "Fortunately, if you own a dishwasher which dries by condensation and not convection, like the Bosch 800 Plus, you don't have to worry about cleaning behind your dishwasher because Bosch uses condensation drying, and not outside air, to dry your dishes."
Unlike conventional dishwashers that use dirty air from around the dishwasher to dry the freshly cleaned dishes, Bosch dishwashers allow the moisture to condensate on the stainless steel walls and flow down the drain. The closed condensation drying system does not draw outside air into the dishwasher, which makes it the most sanitary way to dry dishes.
Bosch has earned a reputation for its advanced dishwashers, which are German engineered to be among the quietest and most efficient dishwashers on the market. Available now, the Bosch 800 Plus dishwasher is the quietest dishwasher on the market and is available for an MSRP of $2,099. The Bosch dishwasher line ranges from $649 - $2,099.
