LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Empire Post Media, Inc. (OTCBB:EMPM) is proud to announce that CLOUDSTREET, a Showtime-Australia miniseries co-written by Ellen Fontana, a producer for the company's wholly owned subsidiary Hybrid-Reality Entertainment, has been nominated in the Best Telefeature, Mini Series or Short Run Series category by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA). This is Australia's highest television writing award.
Fontana, who is co-creator and co-producer of Empire's reality television project, JOURNEY BEYOND, co-wrote CLOUDSTREET with Tim Winton, author of the best-selling novel upon which the miniseries is based. CLOUDSTREET was Australia's most watched miniseries in the history of the Foxtel Showcase network.
Richard Mann, Fontana's partner in Hybrid-Reality Entertainment, said, "Ellen's expertise as a writer and development executive is an example of the talent and pedigrees Hybrid-Reality and Empire bring to every project we develop and produce. Her recognized presence in the international television market reinforces our position as serious players in the identification, development, production and marketing of high quality popular TV programming."
AACTA, the Australian equivalent of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), will hold the awards ceremonies on January 30th, 2012 at the Sydney Opera House, and will be sponsored by Samsung. Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush is the current president of AACTA.
