WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Jan 25, 2012) - McWilliams|Ballard announced today that it has sold and settled all homes at The Village at King Farm, located in Rockville, Maryland. As part of the King Farm planned community, The Village at King Farm consists of 49 condominiums located above retail, restaurants and local businesses.
The Village at King Farm was a collaboration between the Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs and the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County. In March of 2008, the two entities worked closely together to purchase The Village at King Farm and create the first community of its kind in Montgomery County to include Workforce Housing, providing home ownership opportunities to people with moderate incomes including public employees and other workers whose income cannot support the high cost of housing near their workplace.
All Village at King Farm residences feature 2-story layouts with top-of-the-line finishes throughout such as high-end kitchens with stainless steel appliances, hardwood flooring throughout, washer/dryer hookups in every home, and parking at no additional cost. Homeowners all have access to a host of amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness center, meeting room for meetings or gatherings, large swimming pool and 45 acres of parkland featuring picnic tables and grills throughout.
"We are proud to have been part of a team that was able to provide home ownership opportunities to people who otherwise would not have been able to make purchasing their own home a reality," says Ross McWilliams, Principal at McWilliams|Ballard. "McWilliams|Ballard's has vast experience working on projects of all sizes and at all price points, allowing for the successful sellout of The Village at King Farm."
Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett issued the following statement: "I am delighted with the development at The Village at King Farm, especially with the successful collaboration among the County, the Housing Opportunities Commission, and McWilliams/Ballard in making this important project a reality. It provides an exciting homeownership opportunity to County and City of Rockville employees, and also moves Montgomery County one step closer to fulfilling its goal of creating more affordable housing for employees who want to live near their workplaces."
