BRG's Financial Institutions Team Adds Three DC Experts Specializing in Securities Regulation


EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 1, 2012) - Charles Lundelius, Jr., Jim Conversano, and Jennifer Hull have joined Berkeley Research Group's Washington, DC office, with a practice emphasis on financial institutions specializing in the regulation of securities trading by broker-dealers, investment advisers, hedge funds, insurance companies, and banks.

Mr. Lundelius, a director, has consulted with and given expert testimony on behalf of clients in the areas of investment management and stock valuation matters. Among his more notable consulting engagements, the SEC Inspector General asked him to lead the team investigating the SEC's failure to uncover the Madoff Ponzi scheme. He specializes in SEC, NASD, and NYSE market regulation investigations, securities valuation, share price modeling, and commodities trading, having testified in over 30 different cases. Further, Mr. Lundelius has testified or is designated to testify on at least three of the major litigation initiatives announced by the SEC relating to the 2007 financial crisis. Currently, under appointment by the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, he serves as chairman of the diocesan audit committee, overseeing the internal controls for the multi-million dollar operating budget for the diocese and its endowment funds.

For the past 20 years, Mr. Conversano, a principal, has provided expert regulatory, financial, investment management, compliance, and forensic investigation services to attorneys and clients in a number of major civil and criminal litigation matters involving securities litigation, alleged breach of fiduciary duties, regulatory inspections and examinations, insider trading investigations, complex financial fraud investigations, compliance and risk assessments, antitrust matters, bankruptcy proceedings, restructurings, damages calculations, cash flow analysis, ability-to-pay analysis, and valuation of assets and illiquid securities. He has worked on a number of significant engagements including providing expert analysis for the SEC Office of Inspector General's 457-page report titled SEC Office of Inspector General's Investigation of the Failure of the SEC to Uncover Bernard Madoff's Ponzi Scheme.

Ms. Hull, a principal, provides clients with services involving forensic investigations, financial statement analysis, compliance, technical accounting guidance, and damage assessment. She has more than 13 years of experience in the accounting industry and has provided audit and consulting services to companies in industries including hedge funds, banking, and insurance. Her recent engagements include work with an auditor malpractice claim for an audit of a P&C insurance company, numerous SEC and FINRA enforcement actions, and several investor suitability claims.
