NAFC Announces New Name to Unite Free and Charitable Clinics Under One Umbrella

Organization is Now the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics

WASHINGTON, Feb. 1, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Free Clinics has changed the name of the organization to better reflect its membership and to unite both Free and Charitable Clinics under one umbrella. The new name, the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC), was approved by the membership in October 2011.

"By adding Charitable Clinics to our organization's name, we are able to more accurately communicate our identity while maintaining our core vision to be a national voice and essential partner for building a healthy America" says Nicole Lamoureux Busby, NAFC Executive Director.

The NAFC web address has changed to www.nafcclinics.org unveiling the organizations new logo. In addition to the Find a Clinic app, the website also houses information on how interested parties can join, donate or volunteer as well as health care reform and legislative updates.

"We are excited about this change as it better reflects our membership and it encompasses two incredibly important segments of the safety-net system," said J Scott Golding, NAFC President. "While the implementation of health care reform continues and while discussions of repeal are a constant part of the Presidential debates and speeches, our members work daily to provide essential care to those in need. As long as our members are providing access to health care, the NAFC will continue to support and advocate for them and their patients."

The NAFC is the only nonprofit whose mission is solely focused on the issues and needs of the more than 1,200 Free and Charitable Clinics and the people they serve in the United States.
It is an effective advocate for the issues and concerns of Free and Charitable Clinics, their staff and volunteer workforce of medical and non- medical professionals and the patients they serve daily. Free and Charitable Clinics provide much needed help to the nation's un- and under-insured while taking little to no state or federal funding by utilizing volunteers, grants and donations.
