Houston Landscapes Unlimited Celebrates 29-Year Milestone

Plans to Help Houston Area Recover From Devastating Loss of Trees From Drought

SUGAR LAND, Texas, Feb. 21, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Houston Landscapes Unlimited (www.houstonlandscapes.com), a leading full service commercial landscape and irrigation company, recently marked its 29th anniversary and hinted at plans for an exciting 30th year. With more than 140 employees operating out of two offices dispatched to service approximately 600 properties with a fleet of 42 trucks, Houston Landscapes Unlimited has matured into a highly sophisticated business enterprise.

"When I began mowing lawns with a push mower 29 years ago, I never could have imagined what Houston Landscapes Unlimited would become," said Dean Carpenter, founder, president and CEO of Houston Landscapes Unlimited. "I am most proud of the impact our crews have on the communities we serve through their beautification efforts. We bring color and life to neighborhoods throughout the Houston area. It doesn't get any better than that."

Houston Landscapes Unlimited also outlined plans to help Houston recover from the substantial loss of trees due to the severe drought. The Texas Forest Services reports the 2011 drought may have killed as many as 500 million Texas trees during the coming 12 months, Houston Landscapes Unlimited will donate 100 tree saplings for each year it has been in business (3,000 total) to deserving charities. Details for submitting grant requests will be forthcoming.

The environmental impact of donating 3,000 tree saplings is significant. They remove up to 150 tons of CO2, 12,000 pounds of ozone, and 9,000 pounds of small particulate matter. Trees also hold the soil in place and prevent flooding by absorbing water. They shade homes, decreasing energy costs and they provide habitat for many animal species.

Houston Landscapes Unlimited recently secured major beautification projects for BBVA Compass Stadium, future home of the Houston Dynamos, and Constellation Field, future home of the Sugar Land Skeeters. Other customers include master planned community developments such as Aliana, Riverstone and Cinco Ranch, and commercial properties of all sizes, such as Sugar Land Town Square and Lake Pointe Village, among many others. The company's 140 employees operate out of their new headquarters building in Sugar Land and a satellite office in The Woodlands opened in 2011 to create and maintain lush gardens and picturesque environments.
