Texas A&M and the Birmingham Crossplex feature a state-of-the-art, six-lane, 200-meter Mondo hydraulic banked track system with a Mondotrack running surface. Two curved track sections can be banked for high-speed running events, allowing athletes to safely maintain their speed around the curves for optimal times. A hydraulic system raises and lowers the curved sections. When lowered, the track is flush with the surrounding surfaces for other use. Mondo makes the world's only hydraulic banked 200-meter indoor competition track system.
IUPU has a Mondo indoor track with a Mondotrack surface.
The other venues have portable Mondo indoor tracks with the company's Super X Performance surface.
About Mondo's Tracks
The surface of the 2012 London and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Mondotrack provides the optimum blend of speed, safety and comfort for both high-speed competition and training. Mondotrack converts the maximum amount of force generated by athletes' foot strikes to energy for maximum energy return, which helps athletes achieve faster times compared to running on other surfaces.
Super X Performance, the world's top running surface for more than 30 years, was the track of eight Olympic Games through 2004. Recognized worldwide as one of the fastest, most durable and environmentally safest surfaces available, the high-performance track is renowned for its shock absorption and optimal energy return. It provides consistent performance throughout its life and minimizes injury occurrence.
