SANFORD, ME--(Marketwire - Mar 27, 2012) - Plixer International, Inc., a leading provider of NetFlow-based network management, today announced a new series of webinars for Monitoring Network Performance Degradation, Network Threat Detection and Network Behavior Analysis. The two complimentary webinars, will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, 9:00am and 2pm EDT and offer insight on how to monitor for network security threats using IP Host Reputation Monitoring as well as demonstrate the latest NetFlow Telemetry capabilities leveraging flexible NetFlow and IPFIX exports.
"Network Threat Detection of Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) has moved beyond the insight provided by Network Behavior Analysis," said Michael Patterson, Scrutinizer product manager and co-founder, Plixer International. "With its ability to provide alarms for flows connecting to known, rogue IP addresses, IP Host Reputation Monitoring is one of the best new security layers to detect today's most insidious network threats."
Webinar attendees will gain insight on:
- Why APTs are virtually undetectable when passing through most traditional security layers such as antivirus, firewalls and network behavior baseline systems
- The types of data APTs are chasing after and why
- What is IP Host Reputation Monitoring and vendors that offer the solution
- Detecting APT and the username of the hosts involved
- Forensic response and the value of Geo IP look ups
- Additional security layer suggestions
By optimizing the algorithms, Plixer's Scrutinizer more positively identifies nefarious network behaviors. In lieu of triggering immediate alarms, smarter alarms were engineered to monitor behaviors over a few minutes and potentially increase threat indexes. Hosts with higher threat levels, due to numerous alarms, can be quickly identified and isolated, reducing Mean Time to Know (MTTK) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). Some of these new IPFIX and NetFlow threat detection methods leverage the Cisco ASA NetFlow Exports, as well as flows from firewalls manufactured by SonicWALL and Palo Alto Networks.
Scrutinizer's NetFlow and IPFIX collector provides:
- Constant monitoring of individual flows and cloud services for network performance degradation based on packet loss and latency
- Network behavior analysis by analyzing flows for odd user traffic patterns
- Monitoring Host Reputation on all flows to and from the Internet
- Threat tracking on hosts suspected to be carrying an infection
