Napa, Calif., April 11, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Darms Lane Wine, a family winery in Napa's Oak Knoll appellation specializing in an estate grown, ultra-small production Cabernet Sauvignon, today announced the release of its 2010 Russian River Pinot Noir. An inaugural Pinot produced by the Bump family, the 2010 vintage is an excellent first vintage with fruit sourced from the Dutton Ranch - Barron Vineyard in the Green Valley.
"This is a long-time dream and a coming of age for our family vineyard," said Larry Bump, owner, Darms Lane Wine of Napa. "The past several years have been focused on our estate grown cabernets and establishing our small production wines amongst wine lovers. Having accomplished that, we're excited to expand our offerings with a rich, elegant and food friendly Pinot Noir. It's being extremely well received in early feedback and tasting, so we expect it will go fast."
Awarded a Silver Medal at 2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, Darms Lane Vineyard's Russian River Pinot Noir exhibits wild berry and cappuccino aromas. Fruit forward and mouthwatering, the palate features a mix of dark berries, fresh porcini, bacon hints and touches of tobacco. This wine is full-bodied, complex with a persistent finish.
Winemaker Brian Mox led the 2010 Pinot Noir production, including de-stemming and fermenting in an open top tank using both punch downs and pumpovers to manage the extraction. After pressing, the wine was racked to barrel and the lees were stirred every two weeks during the first three months of barrel aging. The wine was then allowed to settle so it could be racked cleanly and bottled unfined and unfiltered the first week of September 2011.
The 2010 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir retails for $39 per bottle or $468 per case. To celebrate its inaugural release, buyers will receive $10 ground shipping with any purchase. Quantity is limited; orders will be fulfill on a first come first serve basis.
About Darms Lane Vineyard
Darms Lane is a family owned and operated winery committed to delivering quality wines from the Napa Valley and recently the Russian River Valley. It was established in the Oak Knoll District of the Napa Valley in 1983 as a Chardonnay estate and was known as Crichton Hall Vineyard. The estate was acquired in totality in 2002 and the 14 acres of original Chardonnay vines were replaced by the Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. In 2005, the first estate grown Darms Lane Cabernet Sauvignon was produced. Today, Darms Lane produces around 500 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, 400 cases of Chardonnay and 250 cases of Pinot Noir every year.
Known for its cabernets created by winemaker Brian Mox (formerly with Lewis Cellars, Etude, and Laird), the recently released 2008 Cabernet received 94 points from Wine Enthusiast. One of the family's special offerings is the 2007 Linda's Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon, dedicated to the memory of the matriarch of the family, who passed away from cancer. $25 from each bottle sold is donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
The family vineyard is on Darms Lane located in the southwestern bench lands of Napa Valley. For more information on Darms Lane Vineyard, visit www.darmslanewine.com or follow us on www.facebo">Facebook or Twitter. To inquire about wines, please email info@darmslanewine.com.
