Two NCAA Division I conference track and field championships this weekend to be contested on Mondo tracks

TAMPA, Fla. and GREENSBORO, N.C., May 2, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This weekend, when athletes take their marks at the 2012 Big East Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, they'll do so at NCAA Division I schools on tracks manufactured by Mondo, the global leader in the sports flooring market.

The Big East Conference championships will take place May 4-6 at the University of South Florida's USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla. USF completed a $2.79 million renovation on the facility in the fall of 2008. The highlight of the renovation was the addition of a Mondotrack, the same track that was the official track of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and will be the track of the 2012 London Olympics.

Irwin Belk Track at Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C., is the site of the 2012 MEAC championships, May 3-5. Aggie Stadium's Super X Performance track from Mondo was installed in 2004 as part of a $1.5 million stadium renovation. The world's top track for more than 30 years, Mondo's Super X Performance track is recognized globally as one of the fastest, most durable and environmentally safest tracks available, and renowned for its shock absorption and optimal energy return. The high-performance rubber surface provides consistent performance throughout its life and minimizes the occurrence of injuries. Super X Performance was an official track of eight Olympic Games through 2004.
