BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - May 7, 2012) - Southern Company Services, Inc. President and CEO Susan Story will be a featured panelist at DNV KEMA's fifth annual Utility of the Future Leadership Forum, "Pathway to excellence." "At Southern Company, customers are at the center of all that we do, so we must be ready to meet their needs," said Story. "In the Southeast, we expect the demand for electricity to grow as much as 25 percent over the next 20 years. We can prepare for our energy outlook through constructive regulation and healthy capital spending. Southern Company is committed to developing a full portfolio of energy resources, including new nuclear, 21st century coal, natural gas, renewables, and energy efficiency. We call that 'using all the arrows in the quiver' and have dedicated more than $20 billion to making that energy future a reality."
The 2012 Utility of the Future Leadership Forum features one and one-half days of discussions about the dynamic changes facing the utility industry and the paths that innovators have taken toward a sustainable energy future. Two CEO panels will explore the challenges of building the future utility in very different economic environments, while other panels will feature topics such as customers at the helm, innovation and the future, sustainable power supply, and engaging customers in sustainability. Throughout the forum, there will be high-level networking opportunities to share perspectives, collaborate, and engage in dialog.
Senior executives are invited to join their peers in the Utility of the Future discussion to share ideas and discover opportunities that can help shape a more sustainable, reliable, and profitable utility of the future. Register and learn more about the 2012 Utility of the Future Leadership Forum.
