After solar rebates and solar tax incentives are deducted the installed cost of a solar system is now under $4,000. Dividing $4,000 by 360 months in a typical mortgage, the monthly payment in Austin for a 4-kW solar system would be around $11 per month, but will save $47 per month on electric bills. So from day one new home buyers will increase their monthly cash flow by $36 per month or $432 per year.
