Enviro-Sports, an organization known for putting on the famous San Francisco Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim, today announced it is organizing the first Boston Sharkfest Swim on September 22, 2012. http://www.sharkfestswim.com/default.asp?PageID=21262
WHO:
Local celebrity athlete and author Jothy Rosenberg will swim the Boston Sharkfest course on Monday, June 4th at 10:00am. Local media are invited to accompany Jothy by water taxi. Jothy is a two-time cancer surviving, above the knee amputee who has participated in the Alcatraz event since its inception 20 years ago and has always finished in the top 15% of the field. www.whosaysicant.org
WHERE:
The swim course will begin at the docks of Piers Park Sailing Center and finish 1500 meters across the Boston Harbor at the Fan Pier docks by the Moakley Federal Courthouse. For this trial swim the water taxi will pick up media at the Fan Pier docks at 10:00am.
WHEN:
June 4, 2012 at 10:00 am for the trial swim with a formal event date of September 22, 2012
Note: This will be the first time the Coast Guard will close Boston Harbor traffic to allow the event to take place.
WHY:
Proceeds from this newly created Boston event will be donated to the Piers Park Sailing Center, a non-profit sailing club, open the public and based in East Boston. http://piersparksailing.org
