Arlington Chiropractor Dr. Jacobs Supports Wounded Warriors in "Ride to Provide"

ARLINGTON, Va., June 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jacobs Chiropractic announced that they recently participated in the "Ride to Provide" charity event honoring wounded military heroes. The event was held Saturday, April 21 at the Reston Town Center. Participants chose to bike 10, 20, 35 or 53 miles. The Arlington chiropractic center had a booth at the event to raise awareness about the effectiveness of non-invasive treatments for sports injury relief.

Arlington chiropractor Dr. Wendy Jacobs announced that her practice, Jacobs Chiropractic, recently participated in the April 21 "Ride to Provide" charity event. The event benefited wounded military heroes.

"As a chiropractor, I am honored to provide natural pain relief and injury rehabilitation treatments to members of our armed forces every day," said Dr. Jacobs. "I understand the challenges facing our wounded warriors, especially when it comes to chronic pain and injuries. Our practice is committed to helping all patients regain a full range of movement and function in their bodies by correcting the underlying cause for injuries."

Dr. Jacobs and her practice had a booth at the April charity event. They gave out free information on the benefits of spinal adjustments for treating sports injuries and chronic pain.

"Many individuals are unaware of the tremendous benefits that spinal adjustments offer the body, especially when healing from a sports injury," said Dr. Jacobs. "We are excited to work with local communities groups, including the Healing Heroes team, to help support recovery programs and raise awareness."

According to the chiropractor, natural, non-invasive treatments help the body heal by focusing on the underlying cause for injuries, such as a herniated disc or torn muscle. These treatments help restore proper alignment to the body and reduce the risk for future injury. By correcting the underlying cause for pain, Dr. Jacobs says she can help patients live an active, pain-free life.

"Our goal is to help empower individuals to make positive, proactive choices for their overall health," said Dr. Jacobs. "Our message is simple: you don't have to live with chronic pain or let a sports injury hold you back. Our treatments make a difference!"

"Ride to Provide" is an annual charity bike event hosted by Washington Redskins team members and media personalities. Members of the "Healing Heroes from Ride 2 Recovery" also participated.

In addition to spinal adjustments, Dr. Jacobs frequently recommends a combination of complementary therapies, such as deep tissue massage, for her patients. According to Dr. Jacobs, massage helps to promote the flow of oxygenated blood within the muscles, relieving chronic pain and promoting internal healing. Other treatments include moist heat therapy, microamperage neural stimulation, cryotherapy, interferential electrical muscle stimulation and mechanical traction.

Dr. Jacobs provides chiropractic care and Arlington sports medicine for the Pentagon City and South Arlington communities. She has treated members of the 2006 NWFA Champion D.C. Divas and Washington Mystics women's basketball team.
