ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., June 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Approximately 5,000 service members will soon receive personal care packages from the USO thanks to the volunteer efforts of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employees who work in St. Augustine, Fla.

On Saturday, June 23, 150 Northrop Grumman employees and their guests converted the company's St. Augustine Manufacturing Center, which normally produces aircraft for the U.S. Navy, into a high-speed human assembly line producing thousands of packages containing personal care items, snacks and reading material.
"Northrop Grumman has a close connection with the USO, and a great deal of the outreach we do as a company across the country directly supports that organization," said Rick Matthews, vice president, St. Augustine Production Operations. "Care packages give a bit of home to our military heroes who are so far away, and assembling the packages is a great way to bring our employees together and show our commitment to a great cause and organization."
Employing approximately 950 people, Northrop Grumman's St. Augustine Manufacturing Center produces the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, which provides early warning and battle management command and control for the U.S. Navy fleet. The facility also produces major subassemblies for aircraft such as the F/A-18C/D, EA-18G, F-35 and T-38. Northrop Grumman is the largest private industrial employer in St. Johns County, Fla.
