LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 27, 2012) - American Reliance, Inc. (AMREL) is pleased to announce the hiring of James Gathings as the new Senior Design Engineer. James is well known in the specialized field of rugged computer customizations. Rugged computers are prized by the military for their ability to operate in harsh combat conditions. AMREL's offerings are fully rugged, but customization is often necessary to meet the military's interface and other requirements. AMREL has been the leading manufacturer of customized rugged computing solutions for 25 years.
Very few engineers have James's background in this niche area. In addition to modifying computers at Getac for 13 years, James has a certificate of completion in Airframe and Powerplant.
"Aeronautics and rugged laptops share the same disciplines in that platforms must be lightweight, have the ability to withstand shock, vibration, high/low temperatures, humidity, dust, high/low pressures, and be shielded from EMI (electromagnetic interference)," says James.
When James left his previous position, he wasn't sure he would be able to continue his work in this specialized field.
"I am overjoyed that I will be able to continue my passion, working for a progressive forward-thinking company such as AMREL," says James.
Another new hire at AMREL is Robert Culver, Director of Program Management, Computer Division. He has over 27 years of military and civilian management experience, including 14 years with the Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition Programs. He will be working to enforce Quality Support Procedures in AMREL's rapidly expanding line of subsystems for unmanned vehicles.
"We're growing and we need the right people to match our increasing capabilities," states Ron McMahan, AMREL's Vice President of Engineering Solutions. "We're pleased that we were able to build our team with the caliber of people like James and Rob. We will soon be releasing a new line of products that we expect to be in high demand. James, Rob, and the rest of the engineering staff are going to be very busy."
