SAN RAMON, Calif., July 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A California boutique marketing and public relations firm has been named a finalist in two categories in the prestigious Ragan Communications-Dow Jones PR Daily Awards, in competition with many of the industry's international heavy-hitters.
AMF Media Group, based in Northern California and founded in 2007, was recognized in the Best Crisis Management category for its work at Alameda County Medical Center during the Occupy Oakland protests. Scott Olsen, a 24-year-old Iraq war veteran, received a severe head injury and was taken to ACMC's Highland Hospital. AMF President Vintage Foster handled the media during the crisis, preventing a proposed march by Occupy protesters on Highland Hospital. The situation drew international coverage for two weeks last October.
AMF also was named a finalist in the Best "Traditional Still Works" PR Campaign, for its ongoing work with ACMC. AMF was one of only two boutique firms in that category and the only boutique firm recognized for Crisis Management, facing up against such national and international firms such as Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and Burson-Marsteller. Final announcements will be made on Sept. 11 in Washington D.C.
"We are deeply honored by this level of recognition," Foster said. "Being a finalist is being a winner."
