Strong BC Representation Shows Growing Concern About Origins and Impacts of Tar Sands Oil and Pipeline Projects


VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 3, 2012) - First Nations leaders from the Yinka Dene Alliance, Heiltsuk, Union of BC Indian Chiefs and the Coastal First Nations are joining hundreds of other First Nations from across North America as part of the Third Annual Healing Walk.

Participants will walk 13 kilometres through the heart of the Alberta tar sands and will bring water from their territories for a traditional water mixing ceremony, followed by speakers from tar sands and pipeline impacted communities, and prayers for the Healing of Mother Earth and those negatively impacted by tar sands projects.

The walk will take approximately 4 hours and will be followed by a feast at the Anzac community Hall.
