AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwire - Aug 22, 2012) - Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity multi-platform engine and development tools, today announced Unity-authored games from the expansive Union catalogue, Unity's games syndication group, will be made available on new devices based on the latest Intel® Atom™ processors for tablets and smartphones.
Unity will release a number of Android titles on Google Play and other markets through Union, with several of Union's best and most successful games published for the new devices -- beginning with Air Attack, Samurai, and Frisbee Forever -- with the possibility for many more to be delivered later.
"We want developers to have as many opportunities for distribution as possible," said David Helgason, CEO, Unity Technologies. "We are very excited to bring even more Unity-authored content to innovative new Intel Atom processor-based Android devices."
The Union business unit was created as a way to help Unity developers publish their games to exciting new platforms with zero extra development cost. With over 120 excellent games, the Union portfolio covers an amazing array of genres while catering to a wide range of age groups and includes games downloaded over 120 million times across all platforms.
"Android devices based on the Intel Atom processor help offer consumers the best mobile experience with compelling performance and energy efficiency," said Kumar Balasubramanian, director of Software Alliances, Intel. "Intel understands games play a healthy role in the user's overall computing experience. Adding a compelling line-up of Union games helps us provide the games and apps Android owners know and love on their devices."
Unity will be demonstrating Union games along with Intel for the first time on August 22-24 at the Unite 2012 conference in Amsterdam. Intel joins LG TV, Roku, Blackberry, Nokia, Sony, and Lenovo as the latest company to take advantage of Union's hefty games catalogue.
