UTICA, Mich., Aug. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Utica veterinarians at Macomb Veterinary Associates announced that they have launched a redesigned website. The new, user-friendly design was crafted to make it easier for pet owners to access pet care information and learn about pet health issues. New website features include a blog, bi-weekly e-newsletter, video newsroom and Vetopedia.

The new "Veterinary Topics" library includes a special emphasis on at-home wellness care. There is also a checklist so pet owners can better identify the warning signs of illness.

The redesigned site also includes information geared at first-time pet owners. This includes several sections in the veterinary topics library geared towards selecting a pet, bringing a pet home, and introducing a new pet into the family.
"Many first time pet owners think they want a specific breed," said veterinarian Dr. Wayne Gilchrist. "Sadly, many of these owners must give up their pet because the breed is incompatible with the owner's lifestyle. Our online Pet Finder is a great tool for helping potential pet owners identify the best pets that are compatible with young children or frequent travel. Our goal is to create a successful match and reduce the number of pets that end up in animal shelters."
The website includes information on the different services available at the animal hospital in Utica, including pet dental care, wellness exams, and pet vaccinations. The Vetopedia includes a list of commonly used veterinary care terms and their respective definitions.
