SONOMA, Calif., Aug. 29, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cline Cellars, a family-owned and operated winery located in the Carneros growing district of Sonoma, has announced that for the second year, Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) has been named as the beneficiary of a $25,000 donation. The money will fund low or no cost education and support services for women and their caregivers. The partnership between Cline Cellars and LBBC began in 2011.
"LBBC not only provides women with the latest medical information they seek out after learning they have breast cancer," says Nancy Cline, owner of Cline Cellars, "but also, and equally as important, they are committed to helping women live with the best quality of life after a diagnosis."
"In addition to financial support, Cline also features LBBC's website on point-of-purchase displays and on the bottle labels of its specialty wine Cashmere throughout the year," adds LBBC's chief executive officer Jean Sachs, MSS, MLSP. "This ongoing promotion keeps LBBC top-of-mind with consumers throughout the year – beyond October, if you will – and helps ensure that women know that whenever they need us, LBBC is available. Cline Cellars' generosity will ensure that no woman who reaches out to us for help, regardless of age, stage of diagnosis, religion, race, sexual orientation or ability to pay will ever be turned away."
"While no one can deny the importance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we decided to change the mindset here at Cline Cellars from 'breast cancer awareness' to 'breast cancer action,'" Cline continues. "A woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes of every day of the year in the United States alone. We want to make sure that they know that LBBC is there, whenever they may be in need. LBBC helps improve the quality of life for these women by empowering them with the information they need to make informed decisions that are best for themselves and their families."
LBBC maintains an award winning website and annually hosts three national conferences. In addition, free teleconferences, a toll-free Survivors' Helpline, print publications and archived audio and video transcripts are available for women who are newly diagnosed with early-stage or advanced breast cancer, are in treatment or recovery, are years beyond their diagnosis or living with metastatic disease.
Cline Cellars has given over $240,000 to breast cancer charities since 2004 when the Cline Cashmere Giving Program began. While donations are always made independent of wine sales, Cashmere is symbolic of the company's support for those affected by breast cancer. The wine itself is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre dubbed Cashmere for its velvety smooth, rich mouth-feel.
