Laguna Beach Animal Hospital Promotes Benefit Brunch for Animal Welfare Efforts

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Sept. 2, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Laguna Beach Animal Hospital is announcing its support for "My Best Friend's Brunch" which will take place at Tivoli Too! on Sunday, October 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Pre-sale tickets cost $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for children under 12, or $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for children at the door. All proceeds from the brunch will go to support the Laguna Beach Dog Park and other local animal welfare efforts. Laguna Beach Animal Hospital owner Dr. James A. Levin says he is eager to see his patients' families at the event, and that there will be an extensive brunch menu, entertainment and several raffle prizes.

The Laguna Beach veterinarian says that continuing community support is necessary to maintain the high quality of the local dog park. "Our dogs have a great resource with the dog park here. It was one of the first in southern California and still does a lot for local dogs besides just providing safe, wide open spaces for dogs to run free. They also support organizations like RUFF (Rescuing Unwanted Furry Friends) and volunteer groups that help provide care at local animal shelters. Until we get to a point where we don't have a large population of unwanted and abandoned animals anymore, we will continue to support these efforts."

Dr. Levin explains that RUFF was one of the founders of the dog park, and that their numbers show that more than 5000 animals are euthanized in Orange County shelters every year. He says the benefit brunch is designed to raise both money and awareness for groups that work to lower those numbers. He adds that increasing awareness of how important spay and neuter surgeries are is another aspect of the brunch. Dr. Levin says these surgeries almost eliminate the risk of pets developing reproductive cancers. Neutered male pets are also less aggressive and have fewer behavioral issues than unaltered males, explains the veterinarian in Laguna.

According to Dr. Levin, the brunch at Tivoli Too! will include a lot of entertainment designed to increase awareness of these issues, but that it will also simply be a great Sunday activity for local families. He points out that the brunch will take place in the restaurant's Tuscan courtyard setting, complete with a waterfall, gourmet food and mimosas. "The brunch is going to be a delicious and fun event for the whole family while benefiting a very important community cause, so I hope to see a lot of people there."

Dr. James A. Levin has owned and operated the animal hospital for more than 30 years and works with two other veterinarians to provide preventative and wellness veterinary care as well as pet urgent care, pet surgery and Hydrosurge pet bathing.
