VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 5, 2012) - Tomorrow Lower Mainlanders will be able to be a part of the region's biggest annual community celebration: the United Way Kick-off event (September 6th, 11:30 - 1:30 pm) which starts one of the Lower Mainland's biggest fundraising campaigns to combat childhood poverty, bullying and seniors' social isolation.
This year, the United Way of the Lower Mainland's fundraising campaign gets underway at the Jack Poole Plaza, Vancouver Convention Centre, with fabulous food, live music, street performers, the proclamation of United Way Day, the Lower Mainland's biggest and loudest cheer, the PwC team cheer video contest and fun contests to win BC Lions memorabilia.
The event will include fun and interactive activities at the United Way Community Hub: "Tweet for a Treat" will see guests Tweet the single word that illustrates what community means to them to earn a special United Way cookie. Another way of earning a special cookie will be to share that single word for all to see by attaching it to the United Way of the Lower Mainland community map on display.
To end, everyone will share in the warmth of a very special Olympic-sized surprise as this year's United Way campaign officially gets underway.
