SUNNYVALE, CA, Sept. 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The first meeting of the Bay Area Apache Drill User Group will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM PDT, at the Silicon Valley Cloud Center, 222 Caspian Drive, Sunnyvale. For those who cannot attend in person, remote participation will be possible via the web and with summaries on the mailing lists, which can be found on the Apache Drill Project page. The Apache Drill project is a community-based open source project, inspired by Google Dremel and dedicated to enabling interactive analysis on data within Hadoop, HBase and other data stores.
"We're looking forward to the first meeting, at which we plan to give an overview of the project and discuss architecture and design direction," said Tomer Shiran, a founding member of the Apache Drill Project. "We encourage any developer who is interested in the project to attend - either in person or remotely as everyone wants this to be a robust and effective community from the start."
