Commuters Commended From Houston to Galveston

HOUSTON, Sept. 20, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) honors local commuters for their environmental improvement efforts during Commute Solutions Month. The seasonal campaign encourages the commuters to help clear our region's air by taking public transportation to work, as well as carpooling, bicycling, walking, or even working from home. Such methods save commuters the time and money of driving daily, while cutting down on dangerous emissions that their vehicles add to our air.

Governments, companies, and organizations that have supported their peoples' solutions have received awards and recognition at the Clean Air Action "Best in Motion" Leadership Awards Luncheon in Downtown Houston. The annual event took place at the Crowne Plaza at 1700 Smith Street, Houston, TX 77002 from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

Hundreds of business leaders, transportation experts and elected officials have attended today's event. Sponsors include Birraporettis, Taqueria Arandas, Which Wich, METRO STAR, Fort Bend County Public Transportation, and many more.
