Adept Technology Introduces Cobra(TM) Refurbishing Program

PLEASANTON, Calif., Oct. 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADEP), a leading provider of intelligent robots and autonomous mobile solutions and services, introduces its Refurbishing Program for popular Cobra™ SCARA robots. With factory-certified, like-new performance and equipment life at a fraction of the cost of a new robot, Adept's Cobra Refurbishing Program offers world-class robots, covered by a one-year parts and service warranty and 24/7 support, while conserving customers' capital equipment budgets. This program extends the life of equipment and helps customers maximize their productivity.

Adept's most popular Cobra robots – the i600, s600, i800 and s800 – are now available as refurbished units for mechanical assembly, material handling, packaging, machine tending, screw driving and other applications.

There are three ways customers can participate in this new program. A customer can send his Cobra robot to Adept, where it is refurbished and sent back. Alternatively, Adept can send a customer a refurbished Cobra robot and later accept his robot as a trade-in. Or an existing customer can purchase a refurbished Cobra robot as a spare. In addition to the one-year parts and service warranty, each refurbished Cobra robot comes with an updated product registration that provides customers access to the latest updates.

"At Adept, we are committed to making our customers more productive and supporting our products for the long-term. Our new Cobra Refurbishing Program exemplifies those commitments," said John Boutsikaris, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Adept. "Customers appreciate that they can get like-new Cobra robots using their maintenance or service budgets, which conserves their capital equipment budgets for other projects."

During refurbishing, Adept replaces all wear parts and common failure parts. Each refurbished robot undergoes extensive and rigorous performance testing, and is evaluated against new factory specifications to meet the latest Adept assembly standards.

Adept recommends Cobra robots be refurbished every 32,000 operating hours to help assure the equipment is operating at peak performance.

The Cobra Refurbishing Program is initially available to customers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
