ABUJA, Nigeria, Oct. 23, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kaztec Engineering Ltd. (www.kaztec-eng.com), a leader in the fabrication of drilling and production platforms and other specialized structures for the oil and gas industry, today announced the launch of a Research and Development Division in order to meet the ever-growing demands of the oil and gas industry. Kaztec is a subsidiary of the Chrome Group (www.thechromegroup.net), a leading West African oil and gas conglomerate.
Kaztec appointed Njideka Kelley, PhD, to head the company's Research and Development Division. Kelley is the founder of New Generation Consulting Resources and Solutions Ltd. The role of Kaztec's Research and Development Division will be to explore new methods for manufacturing and maintaining pipelines both locally and internationally.
"As a learning organization, Kaztec is constantly improving its techniques, learning from its experiences and creating solutions for the future," said Kelley. "We are promoting learning and leadership throughout the organization where everyone works toward a shared vision and individuals more readily accept responsibility for their actions."
Initial plans are for Kaztec to sponsor research into the use of specific materials and technologies for solving leak problems in pipelines. After developing new leak prevention and repair techniques, Kaztec engineers will promote the use of these materials and technologies throughout the Nigeria/West Africa pipeline integrity and maintenance industry. To expand its knowledge base, a delegation from Kaztec recently participated in the 2012 Global Pipeline Construction, Integrity & Maintenance Conference in Dubai. The conference was supported by the Pipeline Association of Nigeria (PLAN) & Pipeline Technology Center CTDUT Brazil.
Pipelines move nearly two-thirds of the all of the petroleum and oil products that are transported annually worldwide. With Kaztec's Research and Development Division, Kaztec will strengthen its position as a leader in manufacturing, installing and maintaining pipelines for oil, natural gas, refined petroleum and liquefied natural gas.
Earlier this year the National Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC) awarded Kaztec Best Oil Service Company of the Year in Nigeria.
The Chrome Group, founded in 1994 by Sir Emeka Offor, is one of Nigeria's leading indigenous multinational businesses with subsidiaries operating in oil and gas exploration and production, oil and gas servicing, engineering, insurance, logistics and power industries.
