New Jersey Dentists Make Sweet Donation to Troops

MORRISTOWN, NJ--(Marketwire - Oct 24, 2012) - New Jersey dentists Edward Romano, DDS and Matthew Vaccaro, DDS have been running an ongoing donation drive for troops overseas for the past five years. The month of October, and especially around Halloween, is the time of year when Drs. Romano and Vaccaro create a major push for donations. Surprising as it may be, candy is one of the items these two dentists try to collect at Aesthetic Smiles of New Jersey, their New Jersey practice.

Drs. Romano and Vaccaro use Halloween to offer patients and their families a chance to donate their Halloween candy. Though the dentists collect any items that might be useful or needed by the troops (such as socks or batteries) they have found that candy literally gives the troops a taste of home. Once a donation box is filled, it is donated to the United Service Organizations (USO).

Dr. Romano's family has a military background, which initially inspired the ongoing donation drive at the New Jersey dentistry practice. His father was a military marine and his cousin also recently served overseas. Drs. Romano and Vaccaro believe that regardless of people's personal beliefs about military engagement, people can still offer troops who are putting their lives at risk for the country a few moments of ease and relaxation. Through Frontline Television News, the dentists have seen the soldiers with Aesthetic Smiles of New Jersey's donation boxes first hand.

Dr. Romano says he knows these troops appreciate what might seem like a small gesture, but a gesture that reminds the troops that people back in the United States are still thinking of them and that they are not alone. Some of these troops have even stopped by Aesthetic Smiles of New Jersey upon their return to personally thank the New Jersey dentists and the participants of their Morristown dentistry practice's donation drive for giving them a few comforts of home while they were abroad.

About Edward A. Romano, DDS

Dr. Edward Romano, a graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, has been in private practice in Morristown, New Jersey since he earned his medical degree. Since that time, Dr. Romano has been continually expanding his education in aesthetic dentistry to perfect procedures such as porcelain veneers and teeth whitening, as well as a wide range of general and reconstructive procedures. About Matthew M. Vaccaro, DDS

Dr. Matthew Vaccaro, a graduate of Bucknell University, earned his DDS with a minor in Prosthodontics from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. While at SUNY Buffalo, Dr. Vaccaro earned two awards for his work in dental implant placement and fabrication and prosthodontics. Dr. Vaccaro then completed his general practice residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He now serves on staff as an attending doctor at Morristown Memorial Hospital, where he teaches residents in all aspects of dentistry. He is an active member of the American Academy of Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Tri-County Dental Society.
