SAN FRANCISCO, CA and LONDON--(Marketwire - Nov 1, 2012) - Huddle, the leader in enterprise content collaboration, today announced that it has been awarded certification to ISO 27001, the internationally recognized standard for information security management. Gaining independent, third-party verified and accredited certification demonstrates that Huddle has the appropriate measures in place to ensure that the standard's stringent requirements are met. The certification provides impartial evidence that Huddle is following industry best practices as part of a corporate governance program and has implemented a robust management framework regarding information security.
ISO 27001 certification demands that companies adhere to control disciplines spanning numerous areas, including risk management and security as well as business continuity management and compliance. The scope of Huddle's certification covers all service provision and back office functions within the organization relating to the provision of cloud collaboration and content management for enterprise.
"ISO 27001 is not easy to achieve and Huddle will have to have met over a 100 checks and balances to gain it. So achieving this award is a serious milestone for Huddle, and should go a long way to assure customers that their data and content is secure," Alan Pelz-Sharp, Research Director, Content Management and Collaboration, 451 Research.
The ISO 27001 certification follows Huddle's recent announcement that it is developing a FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002) certified instance of its platform for U.S. government agencies and organizations. The platform has also had 100 percent uptime over the last 90 day, exceeding its 99.9 percent SLA.
"We're delighted to have achieved certification from British Standards Institution within such a critical area of our business," said Alastair Mitchell, CEO, Huddle. "Huddle is the leading cloud content collaboration platform for enterprise, with unrivalled uptime. This independent validation provides customers with further confidence that we are the partner of choice when it comes to data security. The demand for an enterprise content collaboration platform that can be trusted with valuable data is evident in the fact that Huddle has experienced more than 800 percent sales growth, year over year, in the enterprise marketplace."
"Companies need to wake up and take responsibility for information security if they want to remain profitable and protect their reputations," said Suzanne Fribbins, Product Manager for BSI's Risk Portfolio. "Most high-profile data breaches are not caused by hackers, but by bad business processes and policies. The key to mitigating such risks is to remember that a piece of software isn't going to protect all the information in a company. Companies need a formal framework to tackle the cultural and behavioural risks as demonstrated by Huddle."
