Elected candidates were formally inducted at the Association's 93rd Annual General Meeting in Victoria, B.C. on Saturday October 27, 2012. The election process, as prescribed by the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, and work of APEGBC's Council allows the professions of engineering and geoscience to enjoy the privilege of self-regulation.
Founded in 1920, APEGBC is the regulatory and licensing body for the professions of engineering and geoscience. With over 26,000 members, APEGBC is one of the largest professional associations in BC and maintains high academic, experience and professional practice standards. APEGBC members deliver real world solutions to meet the technological and social challenges of the 21st century.

Biography of Michael Isaacson P.Eng., PhD - President of APEGBC
Michael Isaacson, P.Eng., PhD, is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia. He has been a faculty member at UBC for 35 years, and has served as Head of Civil Engineering and as Dean of Applied Science. His area of research relates to coastal and ocean engineering and he is the author or co-author of two texts and over 250 technical papers. Throughout his career, Dr. Isaacson has remained active as an engineering consultant on a wide variety of coastal and ocean engineering projects for government agencies, major oil companies, consulting engineering companies, and law firms.
Dr. Isaacson was formally inducted as President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC) on Saturday October 27, 2012 at the Association's 93rd Annual General Meeting. Dr. Isaacson's previous positions with APEGBC include: Vice President of APEGBC's Council for the 2011/2012 term, Councillor for two years, and member of the Audit Committee, Executive Committee, Governance Committee, and Professional Practice Committee.
Dr. Isaacson holds a PhD in Civil Engineering, and undergraduate and Master's degrees of Civil Engineering from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Isaacson is Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering; he is also the recipient of several awards, including APEGBC's R. A. McLachlan Memorial Award.
