BANFF, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 7, 2012) - Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort will open its doors to guests on Friday, November 9th. With above average snowfalls and significant powder blanketing the mountain over the past few days, the resort is poised for a solid start to the 2012 - 2013 season.
"Sunshine received over 21 cm of the white stuff in the past 24 hours, adding to an already impressive base, which puts us in great position to offer our guests an exceptional early season experience on opening day," says Tanya Otis, Manager of Communications, Media & Advertising for Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort.
Sunshine will open with five lifts including the Strawberry Express and Angel high-speed quads, along with WaWA, Wolverine and Jack Rabbit quads. As conditions evolve, Sunshine will provide an update on lift status, as well as a list of runs that are expected to be available. Reduced prices for opening day will be in effect.
The current snow pack has settled to 65 cm, providing a solid base for some great early season groomers. (Skiers and riders are advised to use caution; early season conditions mean there may be unmarked natural hazards.)
Sunshine is famous for its legendary all-natural champagne powder snow and its unique snow farming technique, which uses 35 km of snow fencing to capture the snow on the resort's three big mountains.
Following a record-breaking 34 feet of snow this past season, and above average conditions for this time of year, Sunshine Village is on track for another banner year.
