Drive Safe, Drive Sober This Holiday Season

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 30, 2012) - With many holiday festivities already underway, CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO) would like to remind Members about an interruption to its Drive You Home service.

Until January 1, 2013, CAANEO's Drive You Home service for Members will be suspended for calls pertaining specifically to intoxication. This decision comes as a way to avoid interference with the valuable community road safety campaigns provided by charitable and volunteer groups, such as Operation Red Nose™.

CAANEO was proud to be able to introduce Drive You Home this past April. A free benefit for Plus and Premier Members, this service allows them to use one of their allotted service calls per membership year for transportation to a safe location if they decide - for whatever reason - that getting behind the wheel of their vehicle could jeopardize their safety and the safety of other road users. This Member benefit offered by CAANEO differs from the "Tipsy Tows" program for individuals who have consumed alcohol, which is only available through select regional CAA/AAA Clubs. The "Tipsy Tows" service is not offered by CAANEO at any time of the year.

CAA North & East Ontario asks everyone to remember to plan ahead for seasonal celebrations by having a designated driver, making use of public transportation or local road safety campaigns such as Operation Red Nose™, or calling a taxi in order to get home safely. Enjoy the holidays safely and responsibly - if you drink, don't drive.
