STONEY CREEK, Ontario, Dec. 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A Stoney Creek animal hospital has opened an online version of its on-site pet supply store. According to Dr. Qureshi of Beattie Pet Hospital, this increased access is meant to provide extra convenience for pet owners who wish to order vet-approved foods, prescription medicines and other products from the comfort of their own homes. "Our goal is provide a 'one-stop shop' for clients who don't feel like going all over town filling prescriptions or looking for recommended items," said the Stoney Creek veterinarian. "It's one more way to improve the customer experience."
The animal hospital can boast a longtime relationship with local pet owners, having been in service to local residents for more than 55 years. They are a 24-hour vet service providing the on-site pet supply store so owners could purchase their animal's various needs in the course of a typical vet visit. "We saw that it was frustrating and exhausting for people to run all over town looking for a particular pet food or supplement, getting veterinary prescriptions filled, or searching for the various accessories they need to keep their pets happy, well-groomed and healthy," Dr. Qureshi says. "Our on-site pet supply store has made it much easier for pet owners to get everything they need quickly and efficiently."
The pet supply "e-store" stocks the same items as the retail store. Typical products for sale includes vet-approved treats, vitamin supplements, grooming supplies and accessories, toys, collars and leashes for dogs and cats. The online store also offers a range of specially-formulated foods for animals with particular dietary or nutritional needs. Available brands include Premium Life Stage Diet, Purina Prescription Diet, Royal Canine and Hills Prescription Diet.
Pet owners also have the option of purchasing or renewing their pets' prescriptions online, including heartworm treatments, flea prevention and other medications. "Of course we have to approve the prescriptions before they can be filled or renewed," notes the veterinarian. "But once we have approved the transaction, our clients can fulfill the prescriptions at our online shop from their own computer or Internet-enabled mobile device." The veterinarian adds that many of these products are not available through ordinary pet stores, saying, "These products are all approved and/or prescribed by our trained, experienced animal hospital staff."
In addition to its in-store and on-site pet supply stores, Beattie Pet Hospital performs such traditional veterinary services as wellness evaluations, diagnostic tests, anesthesia and surgery, dental work and dermatology for area dogs and cats. They have a second location, Beattie Animal Hospital, located in Brantford, ON which also provides a pet e-store.
