HOLLYWOOD, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 4, 2013) - As a result of the expansion of Big Screen's new international sales team headed by Kimberley Kates and Lars Bjorck, Big Screen Entertainment (
"SUCKER/MOSQUITO MAN is our first film that has caught the attention of so many Asian buyers. There was fierce competition amongst Japanese buyers, but New-Select won out," said BSEG CEO Kimberley Kates. "We are pleased with their track record and their passion for the film. New-Select will be releasing the film theatrically this Spring."
There were also several different Australian companies bidding for the film, but Eagle Entertainment won the rights for Australia and New Zealand.
SUCKER/MOSQUITO MAN tells the story of a down on his luck fella, Jim Crawley, who not only gets fired from his job at a nuclear power plant, but also has his car impounded and discovers his wife in bed with another man all in a matter of a few hours. In a fit of despair, he tries to end his life. But instead of killing himself, Jim is abducted by an evil scientist conducting human testing for a vaccine against a deadly mosquito borne virus that has taken over the world.
As it turns out years of exposure to nuclear radiation and mosquito DNA don't mix very well. Jim mutates into a half-man half-mosquito out for revenge. Jim Crawley used to be a mild mannered wimp. Now he's one angry bug with a taste for vengeance. Directed by BSEG's Michael Manasseri (BABYSITTER WANTED, WEIRD SCIENCE), produced by BSEG's Kimberley Kates and Stephen Eckelberry.
Sales for Big Screen films will continue at this year's European Film Market held in Berlin this February.
