Carl Schramm Joins Berkeley Research Group

EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 9, 2013) - Carl J. Schramm, one of the world's leading authorities on entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth, has joined global expert services and consulting firm Berkeley Research Group, LLC as a director.

Dr. Schramm, whom The Economist called the "evangelist of entrepreneurship," served for 10 years as president and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation, which under his leadership grew into an institution of global influence and the largest private funder of economic research related to growth and innovation.

Dr. Schramm is University Professor at Syracuse University and serves as a visiting scientist at MIT. He was a faculty member at The Johns Hopkins University, where he founded the nation's first research center focused on healthcare costs. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. Dr. Schramm is a fellow at the Bush Institute and cofounded the Obama administration's Startup America initiative, a private-sector alliance aimed at increasing the development, prevalence, and success of innovative, high-growth U.S. firms. As an entrepreneur, he has founded several successful companies in the healthcare finance and information technology industries. Most recently, Dr. Schramm was named a fellow at the U.C. Berkeley Haas Business School's Institute of Business Innovation.
