Cisco Launches Connected Health Services and HealthPresence 2.5


SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 17, 2013) - Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) today announced two new connected health offerings designed to meet an increasing need in the healthcare industry for software and services that helps enable efficient, convenient, high-quality patient care, and more collaboration across the healthcare continuum.

At a healthcare customer event held yesterday in San Jose, Calif., Cisco customers such as Seattle Children's, Resolute Health, Fundación Peluffo-Giguens and Albert Einstein Israelita Hospital emphasized the need for software and services designed to enable a higher quality of care for a better patient experience and increased efficiency, all while managing costs.

Cisco Announces HealthPresence 2.5
Cisco HealthPresence® 2.5, announced today, offers a software-driven version of Cisco HealthPresence. Cisco HealthPresence 2.5 is a telehealth collaboration platform that addresses the needs of healthcare organizations by providing a mechanism for delivering healthcare to a greater number of patients and enables customers to build a scalable and flexible telehealth network that can enhance productivity and improve clinical workflows.

Cisco HealthPresence 2.5 includes new features designed to make it easier and more cost-effective for customers to implement a customized telehealth solution. These features include:

  • Standards-based connectivity to third party medical devices
    Enables the quick and seamless connection of driverless USB, S-Video and composite based medical devices.
  • Standards-based videoconferencing
    Provides the flexibility to use any endpoint that supports standard SIP/H.323 video protocols. Cisco endpoints, such as the VX Clinical Assistant, SX20, MX200 and C60, as well as select partner third party endpoints can now be configured to work with Cisco HealthPresence 2.5.
  • Choice of your own hardware
    Offers customers the option to choose the best hardware for specific needs, including the video endpoint, local desktop computer used in the remote health clinic and data center server platforms.
  • Flexible deployment option
    Manages implementation costs by enabling customers to install Cisco HealthPresence 2.5 using its own IT staff or a Cisco Certified Partner.

Cisco Services for Connected Health and Cisco Architectures for Connected Health
Also announced today is the global availability of "Cisco Services for Connected Health" and "Cisco Architectures for Connected Health." These solutions have been developed specifically for healthcare providers to help enable them to build a robust, highly secure and scalable infrastructure for the delivery of healthcare by utilizing the guidelines and best practices from Cisco's health care experience.
